Years of practice
Five generations of practice, a century spent shaping how New Zealand is built.
Our story
We're architects and interior designers, five generations deep. Our work is complex and often large, but we run lean enough that you're always talking to the people making the decisions. What we're after is a building that works for you, not a portfolio piece for us.
How we work
We take time to understand your brief, your site and your ambitions before a single line is drawn.
Every project starts with questions, not drawings. We get to know your organisation, the people who'll use the building, the realities of the site and the outcome you're actually chasing — commercial, civic or personal. The brief you arrive with is the starting point, not the finish line. Because a principal leads every job from the first conversation, nothing gets lost in translation — the person who hears your ambitions is the same one accountable for delivering them.
We work alongside you and your wider team, keeping you in the room and in the know at every stage.
Good buildings are a team effort. We work openly with you, your stakeholders and the wider consultant group — engineers, planners, quantity surveyors, contractors — pulling a broad range of experience into the room so the best solution wins, wherever it comes from. You're never left guessing: we keep communication direct and jargon-free, test ideas early, and make sure you understand the trade-offs behind every decision.
From concept to consent to completion, we bring a "whatever it takes" attitude to getting it built.
We see projects the whole way through — feasibility, concept and developed design, resource and building consent, documentation and construction observation. Our grasp of the technical, contract and legislative detail is where ambitious designs survive contact with reality. And when a project gets hard — as complex ones always do — we don't back away from the detail. We stay pragmatic, we stay accountable, and we keep going until it's built and working as it should.
Capability & Scale

We build human capital alongside physical structures. It's a studio where ambition thrives — big enough to deliver at any scale, small enough to stay close, and set on leaving the profession better than we found it.
Five generations of practice, from Gummer & Ford to today — over a century spent shaping how New Zealand is built.
A principal-led studio of architects, interior designers and technicians — the people you'll actually work with.
We're always looking for good people: ambitious, culture-led and genuinely collaborative.
