St Georges Apartments
A significant social housing development in Avondale by Kāinga Ora, this ambitious development ranging in typology defines the transformation of traditional low-density housing into quality living and community spaces for more than 350 residents.
Response
Ministry completed the design and construction documentation for the three, five to six-storey apartment buildings. Working alongside Kalmar Construction this high-density housing model called for scaled modulation, generous outdoor balconies, interior, and shared exterior community spaces including a central pocket park. Robust and enduring materials have been chosen to minimise building maintenance and to create a timeless aesthetic. A Homestar 6 rating for all residences was achieved through careful design and decision-making for these much-needed well designed homes in an area of high demand.
